In 2014, the New York Press Association approved a grant application that I wrote, providing seed money to fund the Hofstra High School Summer Journalism Institute for three years. The annual weeklong Institute, held each July, aims to encourage young people of color to consider careers in journalism.

I currently co-direct the Institute with Professor Mario Gonzalez. Since 2017, we have also received funding from the Press Club of Long Island and the Bernard and Sandra Otterman Foundation. We are so grateful for their generous support! Here are various articles on the Institute:
